In my various roles over 30+ years across three continents, I am constantly chatting with teachers / instructors / trainers / coaches about their approach to designing material — especially online content. Some give a textbook answer about course objectives. Others put some thought into it and reflect on Ah-ha moments that hit them during delivery. A few others will spew the latest social media buzzword twaddle.
Then someone asks me and I casually comment on needing a student mindset. At which point they mostly all respond with: “Well yeah…obviously that!” in the midst of a nervous laugh.
Then I usually roll out the following question:
- Have you ever done one of YOUR online courses?
Crickets and blank stares.
Why is it important?
