Any kind of assessment, reflection or self evaluation competency checklist is by far, the weakest link in web-based ‘courses’. Lots of people throw a few videos together and call it a ‘course’. Unfortunately portals like Skillshare and Squarespace courses perpetuate this issue.

Though DCD section 5 will look at the mechanics of self-assessments, This lesson explores steps needed to ensure authentic tasks and assessments (including self-assessments & reflective journals) within online delivery.

What is ‘Authentic”?

How can you or your courses stand out amongst a myriad of copycats and clickbait fraudsters? AUTHENTICITY!

adjective

not false or copied; genuine; real: an authentic antique.

having an origin supported by unquestionable evidence; authenticated; verified: an authentic document of the Middle Ages; an authentic work of the old master.

I love how both definitions state (not imply) originality!

Tasks

This lesson really focuses on your subject matter authenticity. If you have cooking lessons…be a cook! If you offer courses on drone photography… have tons of experience at it.
