#JohnWick_77_Challenge #2: My DLD PORTFOLIO

When/Where started: JAN 2019 — Manila

From the fruits of my first challenge I basically constructed an ebook portfolio that could be viewed by interest as opposed to just chronologically or turning the pages. By using the maps and clicks on the various pages someone could move around the portfolio like a web page to see what it is they wanted to see and they could click on links the videos I talked about in #JohnWick_77_Challenge #1.

As mentioned previously, Adobe products have a HUGE learning curve. To complete Challenge #1 in Premiere Pro the basics I needed for the first video I could pretty much copy many of the basic transitions and effects to complete the rest. But InDesign was another story. The more I saw on YouTube or learned by messing around with features the more I wanted to push my boundaries. To the point where there must have been 10 different iterations.

One of the wonderful aspects of Adobe InDesign CC (early 2019) is that once you have finished your project and you can save it as an e-book — which I did for my own reviewing — you can also upload it to Adobe cloud to host it much like a web page. Then you can just have the link which is what I then used on my CV.

What this project really did for me, apart from being able to at least start thinking about what I have done and what I liked about what I’ve done over the last 15 years, was to show me what InDesign was REALLY capable of. This realization led to my Id-4-Edu (Indesign for Educators) series of projects. I basically realize that you could have a digital flipped classroom or digital delivery for students within a closed setting or without needing any external internet once you have the basic ebook. Given that one half of the globe still does not have internet, or stable broadband internet, it seemed to me like a pretty cool solution to get digital delivery capabilities into the hands of many developing and underdeveloped countries.

This CV-Portfolio idea did generate some immediate success as you will see in challenge #3.

Thoughts, comments and any info about similar challenges you have undertaken are always appreciated.
